Interference between DAQmx and VISA?

Solved!
Go to solution

We got a new Lock-in 7270 from Signal recovery which we would like to address by USB, using the driver for VISA provided by them. We have a second device which is controlled by NI USB-6212 and DAQmx 8.8. The version of VISA installed is 4.4.1. Each of them works well as long as only one device is switched on. As soon as both are switched on, the NI USB-6212 can't be controlled by Labview anymore and the lock-in can only be controlled some times. When the lock-in is switched on first, the NI USB-6212 is not even recognized by Windows XP.

Can this be a problem between the two drivers, between DAQmx and VISA, so that they interfer?

No, there is no interferance between the drivers. Are both the USB devices going into the same hub? I've seen very similar issues with multiple devices and the hub not being able to provide the power for all of them. Device manager will tell you the current requirements for each device that is plugged in and how much is available. Typically 500 ma.

Thanks. We installed now an additional USB-card and now everything works fine. Even if the two devices are on the new USB-card.

Only I couldn't find how much current each device uses and how much is available.
