M-series cable

Solved!
Go to solution

I need to custom make a cable for the PCI-6281 (M-Series) I/O connector. One end of the cable has a 68-pin VHDCI connector; the other end is just free wires. I bought an SHC68-NT-S cable from National Instruments as recommended on the web site for custom connections.

I just realized that the twisted pairs in the cable are not following the connector's pin assignments! There are some analog inputs (e.g. AI0 and AI8, etc.) which are twisted together instead of being twisted with their GND terminals.

I know it takes a bigger cable and a little handwork to make it properly paired but is there such a cable available?

I am eagerly waiting for your answers.

Hello Frank;

Unfortunately there is not a cable with that description because each cable is twisted with the correspondent pin right next to it. As you probably already have, you can check this link for labeling all you wires in order not to get confused:

Hi Pedro,

Thank you for your reply. Fortunately I don't need all 16 AI-s on the PCI-6281, so I can select only those inputs which have a corresponding GND twisted with the hot signal wire. I just wanted to see (for possible future extensions of my VI) whether I will have more inputs with properly twisted pairs in this cable. If I run out of the 7 analog inputs twisted with their GND-s, I have to build a cable myself.
