MAX export function error

I'm trying to export my configuration settings from Max using the export function (File>>Export), for some reason it is not showing any of the exportable information (global virtual channels, devices, etc.) as available to export (see image below).  I'm using MAX 4.5.0f0 and mxDAQ 8.8.0f2, I've done this before on older versions of MAX/mxDAQ with no problem but am stuck on this one...

Thanks,

Randy

Export issues

Hello Redrabbit,

Looking at the NI Configuration Import/Export Wizards help, it says that data will be shown on the second page of the wizard only if

1. The product that owns the data supports the wizard.

2. The product that owns the data supports the selected file type.

3. The product that owns the data is  installed on the selected system (in the remote system case).

The problem you are experiencing might result from one of the above three issues.  What configuration file type did you select?  What hardware is a part of the configuration that you are trying to support?  What if you try exporting the configuration as a different file type, i.e. .txt if you originally selected .nce?

Best wishes,

Thanks for the response...to answer you're questions, I've tried all three file types (nce, txt, ini) the hardware involved is cDAQ, all of which I'm running on other systems without issue.  None of the hardware has changed since upgrading mxDAQ (which is when the export started acting funny).

Thanks,

Randy

Hello Redrabbit,

Thank you for answering the questions that I asked in my previous post on this thread. From your answers, there could be a problem with Measurement & Automation Explorer, such as MAX database corruption.  To determine if there is a problem with MAX, I recommend that you create a simulated device in MAX under DAQmx Devices.  After creating a simulated device, such as a simulated M-series DAQ board, create a virtual channel in the Data Neighborhood, and assign physical channels from the simulated device to the virtual channel.  Next, try to export both the simulated device and the virtual channel.  If the Export Wizard still doesn't show any devices or virtual channels available for export, I recommend that you repair Measurement & Automation Explorer.

Did as you suggested and was still not able to export the data.  I have an idea of what is causing the issue...I'll report back once I've confirmed.

Thanks,

Randy

Hello,

I have got exactly the same issue. My configuration is with MAX 4.5.0f0. As suggested above I have tried to create a simulated task but nothing appears in the export screen, except the serial ports and LPT1. Do I have to reinstall DAQmx? Is there another way? Is something corrupted? I have temporarily disabled my antivirus program but with no improvements.
Thanks,
Christophe

Hi Christophe,

From what location are you exporting from? Did you select "My System" under the configuration Export Wizard?

My System

The reason that I ask is that I noticed the first poster is using FieldPoint--if you had selected the FieldPoint controller (which uses IAK settings) as your system it could create the behavior you are seeing.  If this is not the issue, are you experiencing any other unusual behavior with Measurement and Automation Explorer?

Hello John,

Yes, from 'My System'. No other unusual behavior. After more investigations it appears that this occurs only with DAQmx8.8/MAX4.5. I have uninstalled all NI components then reinstalled Labview and DAQmx8.8/MAX4.5: same issue. I have uninstalled all NI components then reinstalled DAQmx8.7/MAX4.4: no more issue ! Strange...

Thanks for your feedback,

Christophe

Christophe,

Would you mind exporting your configuration from MAX with DAQ 8.7 and posting it to this thread?  I would like to take a look at it from this end on 8.8 and see if we can't find out what's going on.

Thanks,

Dan
