NI DAQmx 8.0 API for Suse 10 and LV 7.1

Hallo there,

I am using Suse Linux 10 with LabVIEW 7.1 and DAQmx 8.0.

My problem is that when I'm opening a blank VI I can't find the option "Measurement I/O" in order to use the DAQmx API.
I can't also find the DAQmx under LAbVIEW->Tools.

However DAQmx recognizes the device I've installed (PCI 6036E) and it seemed that DAQmx installation proceeded correctly

Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance....Smiley Happy

Hi Jim-

NI-DAQmx for Linux only supports LabVIEW 8.0 and later.  In order to use NI-DAQmx in Linux you will need to upgrade your LabVIEW version (or alternatively program in C/C++).

Hopefully this helps-

Tom, first of all, I would like to thank you for your reply which is really helpful.

If i can't upgrade to LV8.0,Is there a version of traditional NI DAQ i could use for linux??

If so,you would suggest to work this way or to work LV in WIndows?

Hi Jim-

No, Traditional NI-DAQ never supported Linux.  I would recommend NI-DAQmx for all new development projects regardless of which O/S you are developing for.  If you have access to LabVIEW 7.1 or later for Windows you can use NI-DAQmx.  The most recent version (is linked here.

Thanks-
