NI-Daq install script options

I need some help.  I'm not a Linux user, but I am having to use a linux USB-9211.  I've got SUSE installed, and am trying to install the NI-DAQmx 8.0 software, but I cannot get the install script to work properly.  I have a "missing file operand" error.  I managed to make it create a folder, but it did not install or copy any files.  I'm lost, and would appreciate any and all help.  Remember, first time Linux user here.

Will,

Thanks for contacting National Instruments.  The DAQmx driver for linux does not support USB DAQ devices anyway.  You can view the readme to verify this limitation.

Then how do you make this work in Linux?

USB-9211

Is a full version of LABVIEW required?  Otherwise, why offer DAQmx as a download to be used in Linux with this device?

Will,

The USB-9211 is supported in DAQmx Base 2.1 for Linux.  You can download that and try to install it.  Depending on the carrier you have for your device it may or may not work.  The 9162 carrier is for DAQmx and the 9161 is for DAQmx Base.  You should have the 9161.  A further explanation is shown in the KB Why Is My USB-9211 or USB-9215 Not Showing Up In NI-DAQmx Devices In Measurement & Automation Explor...  I hope this helps.  I apologize for the confusion.  I will submit feedback on the actual website to reflect the things I've been discussing.

Hi Will-

To add to Kenn's post- NI-DAQmx Base for Linux driver supports your USB-9211 device via both LabVIEW and ANSI C/C++ API's.  The NI-DAQmx for Linux driver does not support USB devices and is not offered as an option on the info page for driver support.  If you have found info indicating otherwise, I apologize for the confusion.  If you can point me to the source of confusion I will correct it.

Note that there may be some confusion between the USB-9211A which is supported under NI-DAQmx for Windows and the USB-9211 which is supported under NI-DAQmx Base for Mac/Linux.  In order to tell the difference between the two, check the KB that Kenn linked.

Hopefully this helps-

No worries, guys.  I'm pretty sure teh confusion is all on my side of the keyboard.  On the page for the 9211, it references NI-DAQmx, which lead me to believe that was what I needed.  I'll give Base a whirl and see where it takes me.

Thanks for the help!
