We just received an NI USB-6008 and a 6501. I originally installed the DAQmax 8.3 software successfully (onto a machine that has never had any NI software on it before). I could plug in the devices and they would be recognised successfully by the Device Monitor. I ran Test Panels and could talk to them via a C program.
However, I didn't originally install the C# examples. So I went back into the installer and selected "Support for .NET 2 framework" including the examples. The installer went and did it's thing (taking a verrrrrrrry long time). But from then on, the Device Monitor crashes when I plug a device in. If I unplug the device and plug it in a second time, my PC crashes!!!
I've tried completely uninstalling all the NI software (via the DAQmax installer and via Windows Control Panel) including the device drivers (via Windows Control Panel) and re-installing everything. But the crashes still happen.
Can anybody please suggest a way of fixing this? Is there a utility that removes all traces of the NI installation so that I can start again from scratch?
Thanks,
