NI-PXI-6259, DAQ

Hello,

I am first time using the DAQ 6259, I have some questions, I already have the data sheets:

1. How many lines are there in one port, Digital?

2. The Analog Input has 32 and 16 differential, How can we change the configuration?

3. I am already using PXI 6251 and I want to install 6259 in the same PXI, How can I change the channel settings?

4. What is the installation procedure?

Please send any manual regarding 6259

Hello Kraze4lv,

About your questions.

1. In 1 port there are 8 lines. Usually the Digital IO are numbered from 0 to x. So if we have the terminal P4.7 it means line 7 of port 4, and since they start at 0 then it will be the 5th port of the device and the 8th line of that port.

Specifically for the PXI-6259, port 0 has 32 lines, port 1 has 8 lines, and port 2 has 8 lines.

2. The analog Inputs can be set to either 32 Single Ended or 16 Differential. The difference is that Single Ended just use one terminal in the daq device. You can set this up in the Measurement and Automation Explorer when you are creating the task, in the configuration there is an option that says terminal configuration. There are the different options. Also in the bottom there is another tab 'Connection Diagram' that will show you how you have to connect the signal to the device depending the terminal block you are using and how you set the terminal configuration.

3. For the channel settings, what exactly do you mean by this? When you call the different channels of the different cards, they will have different names so that is how you would be calling them and setting the different configurations for them.

4. Installation procedure: - Turn off the PXI

- Insert the card into the PXI

- Turn on the PXI

This should recognize the card and you should be able to see it on your Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).

Here are different links to manuals, and the data sheet.

Data Sheet and Specifications

M Series User Manual

Also, once you have installed your card, when you go to MAX, you can right click on your 6259 card and select device pinout and that will give you the pins and terminals for this card.

I hope this was helpful.
