No blocks of digital inputs of DAQ PCI 6024E

I installed NI-DAQmx 8.3 and a DAQ card NI-6024E, recognized using test panel in Measurements and Automation.
However, Labview 8.0 (evaluation) does not show all the relevant blocks for working with NI-6024E.
No input assistant module.
what could be the problem?

Hi Oded,

This can happen if you have not installed support for LabVIEW.  When the driver initializes it will give you several options for components to install.  If you did not install LabVIEW prior to installing the DAQmx driver, then the support for LabVIEW would not have been installed.

To correct this you can modify the driver install using "Add or Remove Programs".  Select National Instruments Software and click "change".  Navigate to NI-DAQ 8.3 and select "modify".  You will need the installer source (Driver CD or other source) to modify the installation.  When the installer comes up, select to "Install this feature to a local drive" by clicking on LabVIEW 8.0.  This should install the DAQ Assistant and other DAQmx VIs in your LabVIEW Measurement I/O pallette.

In the future, you can avoid this problem by following this installation order guideline:

1)Install Software (i.e. LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI)
2)Install Toolkits
3)Install Drivers
4)Install Hardware

Thanks Jeniffer,

I actually fixed that already by uninstalling DAQmx8.3 and reinstalling DAQmx8.0.

I guess now that Labview was installed before DAQmx it could tell that DAQ assistant should be installed.

I always thought , however, that the hardware should be installed first.

I will try also what you suggested just to e sure there is nothing else I need to be installed.

Best Regards,

Oded
