PC crash after removal of USB DAQ device during analog out generation

I'm using an USB-6251 system on Windows VISTA Ultimate to generate an arbitrary waveform to the analog output terminal.

When I turn of the device during generation my pc crashes and hangs for eternity until I turn the power off and on again.

When my application starts and my device is turned off I get an error describing that the device is not yet turned on. When turning the device off during generation I expect to get an error message from the daqmx driver telling me that the device is no longer available, but it doesn't instead it crashes my machine.

Is this a known problem with the daqmx driver (V 8.6.0f5)?
And can I do someting about it?

The crash doesn't occur when running the application on winxp and turning the device off and on.

Andre,

I had to lay my hands on a USB-6251 to test this out so that is why my little late respond. I have tested this issue out on Windows Vista Profesional SP1 with NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 and LabVIEW 8.5.1. When shutting the device off during generation I get an error message (-88710) that either the task is aborted or the device is in a state of removal (which is the case here). So this is basically what I would expact.

So I cannot reproduce the crash/hang. Could you try and update your DAQmx driver to the latest version which can be downloaded here:

Thanks for the response. But I have had to deliver the device to a customer last monday (who fortunately used win XP). So I cannot perform anymore tests regarding the USB-6251, unless NI provides me with a test device or when another customer comes along that requires the use of this device.

Side question: Is LV 8.5.1 already available for download somewhere?

Hi Andre,

LV 8.5.1 is available for download in the Shared Resource Centre.
You have to log in with your  NI Profile.

Bas
