PCI 6023e & BNC 2110: Problem with CTR 0 Out Signal

Hi,

I want to use my equipment to generate a +5 V output signal to switch on/shut down other devices (for example: liquid nitrogen filling of solid state detectors). Problem: Everytime I shut down the PCI with the PCI 6023e Card inside, the CTR 0 output of the BNC 2110 connector block raises to +5 V and remains there until I turn on the PC and set the idle state of this channel to "low" (with MAX or a LV *.vi). Of course I dont like this behavior because if someone shuts down the PC and doesnt disconnect the cables from the conncetor block, the output signal will switch on the nitrogen pump.

Is there any way to avoid this?

Thanks a lot!

Guenter,

please refer to this document in the NI knowledgebase which describes how to use pull-down resistors to change the powerup states of digital output lines on E-Series boards. The described method is also valid for counter outputs.
Please note that all boards of the newer M-Series support user-definable powerup states. For more information, please click here.
