PCI-6052e works in old PC/'not responding to base address' in new PC

Hi-

I purchased a new computer and put a PCI-6052e and a PCI-6259 in it.  Both cards worked in an older computer.  Now only the 6259 works in the new computer.  I get a -200020 error on the self test from MAX in the NI-DAQmx section and 'not responding to base address' in the traditional section.

I have installed the latest NI-DAQ (8.6)
Swapped PCI slots.
Tried the 6052 back in old computer (still works)

Is this a PCI-X bus issue?

Please Help-
Steve

Hello Steve,

From your description, it appears that the hardware has never worked in your new computer.  If this is the case, then there are two potential issues that come to mind.  The first is (as you say) a PCI-X compatibility issue.  Most of our HW is compatible with PCI-X, however some of our older cards (and older revisions of many cards) are not compatible.  I found a KnowledgeBase that lists those that are compatible (the 6052E is on that list) and talks about how to tell the difference between those that are and those that aren't.

The other possibility I found was with the computer/OS/BIOS recognizing the hardware and allocating resources for it.  I found another KnowledgeBase that talks about troubleshooting steps to try and fix this issue. I am sure you have tried several of these steps, but it may give you a few more ideas.

Hopefully this helps you out, if you have any quesitions, feel free to ask.

Thanks Neal-

My 6052e is of the one notch variety (see first knowledge base link) so it is not going to work in the new computer.

Bummer.
