PCI-MIO-16XE-10 suddenly gives Code 10 in only one machine

That is how I am generating the Code 10 error messge (uninstalling, removing, reinstalling). I've tried that several times, with Ni-DAQ in several states, and into several slots. I run a PCI RAID card which, of course, must be working for the original "drive" to operate at all.

At this point, I'm throwing in the towel and preparing for an XP reinstall. Bummer, everything else was running fine...

C'est la vie, at least everything should run faster. Nothing like clearing out a couple years' unneeded files, I suppose. Thank you very much for your help, John P.

Sorry we weren't able to figure out the cause of the problem, the reinstall should take care of everything and is probably the easiest solution.  The best of luck with your application, if you ever run into the issue in the future be sure to let us know so we can try to figure out what is going on.

A final update - a complete XP reinstall, along with fresh installs of NIDAQ, LV, et al has resulted in a return of all functionality to the hardware.

Thank you again, JP, for all of your help.

I am out of town until 4 January. However, I look forward to trying all of the suggested fixes and thank everyone for their efforts.

Happy New Year!!

Would you believe it, the problem has recurred. After a complete reinstall on a new pair of hard drives, the system ran maybe a half hour or so before LV started returning all zeros on my inputs. Attempts to stop the VI froze the program, with no ability to terminate it - required a hard boot. Could uninstall / reinstall the device, but only to encounter the same behavior. Swapping the XE-10 for an XE-4 I've got in the lab showed no improvement.

It must be something on the specific machine. That XE-4 is known good (had been running a VI for ~1 week when I pulled it). I've got no more time to troubleshoot, though, and am replacing MB, CPU, memory, Vid, optical drives, RAID controller (will be ob, was pci), input devices, and power supply. I'll keep the case and hard drives, I guess. Of course I'll be trading onboard RS232 for a USB/RS232 adapter, but hopefully that won't make a difference. More to come...

I write this from the new machine that has had the same XE10 running the problem .vi for 317010 seconds straight now (~3 1/2 days). This appears to have been an issue with the old motherboard / cpu / memory / etc.

Thanks to all for your insight and time.

For anyone who reads this thread and wonders what worked for me:

I finally got back to this project. I found the NI-DAQ setup disc and ran setup.

My problem seems to be fixed.

Thanks to all.
