PXI-6229 DAQ card suddenly not working anymore

I have a PXI-1036 chassis with two PXI-6229 and a PXI-7813R card. While everything was working fine until recently, I suddenly cannot use the PXI-6229 cards anymore:

- in LabVIEW code, when DAQmx Start Task.vi is called, an error -50400 is created:

Error -50400 occurred at DAQmx Start Task.vi:1

Possible reason(s):

NI Platform Services:  The transfer did not complete within the timeout period or within the specified number of retries.

Task Name: _unnamedTask<5>

- in MAX, when I create an analog output task and try to execute it, a DAQ Assistant Error occurs (with the same error code and message as in LabVIEW).

I have no idea why this problem suddenly occurs. Does anybody have a hint on how I could proceed?

PS: The only hardware manipulation I currently remember that I performed recently is that I plugged in a PCIe USB3 adapter card. But I removed it again now, and the problem still persists.

Update:

  • I tested both PXI-6229 cards on another PXI chassis (PXI-1031), where they were working well.
  • the card connecting the PXI chassis to the PC (a PXI-8331 card) seems to be ok, too: it worked well with the other chassis.
  • another potential cause of the problem came to my mind: I had put a PXI-6122 card into the chassis. Removing the card hasn't helped, however.
  • I reset the MAX database, which didn't help

So, I would conclude that the problem is the chassis itself? Maybe I somehow damaged it when I inserted the PXI-6122 card?

Hi dlanger,

here my troubleshooting tips:

-I would first check the proper installation of NI-DAQmx:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/E8CAFBC41A7B9BF086256D3C00650011?OpenDocument

- In the windows device manager: Is there a yellow question mark?

- Use another PXI-Slot for the 6229 and try it again

- You can also use the DAQ diagnostic Utility to perform a device detection test (and several additional tests):

- Update to the latest NI-DAQmx:

Cheers,

Cheggers

I finally sent the chassis including the PXI-6229 card back to NI. They found that not the chassis was the problem, but that the 6229 card was damaged.

After repair, everthing is fine.
