PXIe6280- Analog Input acquisition with higher sampling rate provided by external clock source

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello!

I am using PXIe-6280, I need to acquire analog voltage but with higher than 500KS/s. May I use external clock to feed the ADC with external clock?

Thanks,

Yenass

No, that's not going to be able to work to "trick" the board into sampling much faster than it's spec'ed to handle.  Here's a little more detail from another recent thread.

If you need to sample faster, you need a board that's spec'ed to handle the sample rate you need.   Note too that your board is spec'ed for 500 kHz *AGGREGATE* sample rate.  There's a subtle distinction with DAQmx task terminology here.

The *aggregate* rate is the DAQmx task sample rate multipled by the # channels in the task.   In DAQmx terminology, 1 sample means one measurement of every channel in the task.   In the spec sheet, *aggregate* sample rate is more like the max ADC conversion rate.

ALERT! LabVIEW's subscription-only policy came to an end (finally!). Unfortunately, pricing favors the captured and committed over new adopters -- so tread carefully.
