The analog input range is determined by the hardware components in your board. There is no way to change and/or exceed the range without damaging your hardware. For example, if you have a board with an input range of -10 to 10 volts you can narrow the range to -1 to 1 volt but you can not expand the range to -20 to +20 volts.
The gain settings are also determined by your hardware and the specific amplified used on your board. Look in the User Manual in the Specifications Appendix for your particular DAQ board for the available gain settings. When you select an input range, the proper gain setting will be calculated and the closest match available on your board will be used.
