Question on USB DAQ 6008

Solved!
Go to solution

Dear All,

I want to generate output signal from usb 6008 between 10-15 Hz for controlling diaphragm shutter (optical shutter) in (TTL) external modulation mode. I am not able to control the frequency by usb 6008 as it is 1K Hz. Can anybody guide me how to solve this problem as shutter does not operate for high frequencies.

Where do you see that the USB 6008 does analog output at 1 kHz?  From the specifications I see the device can operate at a max of 150 Hz:

There's something else to pay attention to here: 'software-timed'

There's two ways that analog output signals can be generated: software and hardware timed. If a device is timed by software, this means your application controls the output directly and updates the value on demand. This can be useful for applications where precision is not needed, or a specific waveform shape is not required (i.e. a gradual increase in amplitude, etc.) But if you need precise timing and careful control over the shape of the waveform for frequencies 15 Hz (150 Hz/10) or higher, then this device will likely not be able to meet your requirements.

Dear Nathan

Thanks for your reply. Can you please guide me which device should I use for getting the continuous operating frequency less than 10 Hz. Because for my shutter the frequency limit is 10 Hz.

I'm still not sure I understand exactly what type of signal you're trying to generate.

Maybe if you could sketch out the signal, along with timing information, amplitudes, etc.

And if you're looking to purchase a new device or for advice on purchasing, you can contact your local NI office and they'd be able to have this conversation with you, too.
