Seeking DAQ Solution for SSI and Analog Signals to USB

Hello everyone,

I am working on a project that requires a reliable DAQ solution to convert both SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) and analog signals into USB. Here are the specifications we need:

Project Requirements:

  • SSI Signal: Differential output (RS422/485), up to 1.0 MBaud, 25-bit frame, binary coding.
  • Analog Signal: Voltage or current (0-10V or 4-20mA), with a resolution typically ranging from 12 to 16 bits.
  • Power Supply: 10-30VDC.
  • Operating Conditions: Must operate within a temperature range from -40 °C to +75 °C.
  • Output: USB interface for easy data communication and integration with our existing systems.

Additionally, I am interested in software compatibility, particularly integration with LabVIEW or other common software platforms using available APIs.

Could anyone recommend a suitable DAQ solution from NI's product line that fits these requirements? I would appreciate any advice or guidance on products, documentation, or experiences with similar setups.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,

TENDJOU Thomas

I would be looking at a cRIO system for this.  I would use a Digital IO module and the FPGA to decode/interpret the SSI signal.  There are modules to read voltage and others for reading 4-20mA signals.  Most of the cRIO controllers anymore have an Ethernet Over USB interface you can use for communications with your main application.  The only issue I am seeing is the temperature range as the extended temperature range models are -40C to +70C, being a little short on the high temperature side.

The cRIO is programmed using the LabVIEW RealTime and LabVIEW FPGA modules.

Hello,

Thank you for your previous response recommending the cRIO system for converting SSI and analog signals to USB output. After considering your suggestion, I believe the cRIO platform could be a suitable solution for our needs.

However, I would like to know if NI provides any service to assemble the necessary hardware components and deliver a final prototype, fully integrated and ready for testing. If not, could you recommend any certified NI partners or third-party companies that offer such assembly and prototyping services?

This information would be very helpful for us to move forward with our project.

Thank you for your assistance.

Regards,
