I just received two SCB-68A, and after taking a look inside them, I noticed that the location where the Top Cover sits in its vertical position (how it looks on page 1-1 of the manual) has two solder pads on either side of the device (near U1 and S2). However, I am unable to find a description of what those solder pads do in the manual or anywhere else. I'm assuming they are just there as raised bumps to prevent the edge of the cover from scratching up the soldermask/silkscreen of the PCB, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm this, or correct me?

Hi Seth,
Since this is not mentioned in any public documentation, my guess would be that these are probably serving an internal mechanical or manufacturing purpose. In any case, I would not try to solder anything onto these pads - we would not be able to guarantee normal operation.

Hi Xavier,
Correct, I do not have any plans on using those pads for anything. I just wanted to double check that they are intentionally put there to have the top cover rest on them, or is it another use that I am not aware of, or is it a mistake that should be fixed?
Thanks,
Seth

Hi Seth,
Sorry for the delay. I was able to get a confirmation as to these pads' utility. Turns out they are actually used for the cover to rest on, so you were right!
