We have two versions of an instrument (4-channel and 8-channel). The 4-channel uses a PCI-6221 and the 8-channel uses a PCI-6229. I need an 8-channel card for a new station, and want to steal one from another station with is only a 4-channel, but has an 8-channel DAQ card for some reason. I want to switch out a PCI-6229 for a PCI-6221. When I do this, the hardward shows up in the Measurement and Acquisiton program, but my custom programming is nothing but errors. Is the programming only ever going to work for the original DAQ, or is there somewhere I can update it to work with the new DAQ?

'Nothing but errors' is not a very good description of the issues you might be having. What specific errors do you get? Is the device number the same or did you not change that when you replaced the card?

Dennis,
Fair enough on the lack of description. The device number appeared to be the issue. I didn't write the original programming, so I wasn't sure which parts of the program would need to be changed. I changed the device numbers (the port was the same), and am not getting any error messages now.
Thanks!
