Synthesis of time signal from PSD

Is there a VI that does this?  I would like to use it to drive an instrument using my DAQ.  I appreciate any suggestion.

First, I would recommend being a little more clear about what you mean by PSD since there are a number of definitions (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSD).  By reading between the lines I assume you mean Power Spectral Density (rather than say, Punch Sport Drink).  If I understand reconstruction theory enough, I think you need phase information (which I don't think the PSD has) and not just the magnitude information (which the PSD does have) so it would be impossible to recreate the signal from just the PSD.  Furthermore the PSD is a  description of a rather random signal, so I believe there are an infinite number of signals that would have the same PSD.  Either way, I think this question would be better suited on the LabVIEW forum.

Neil,

Yes, I'm refering to Power Spectral Density where phase, frequency, and magnitude information is key in signal generation.  Typically PSD magnitude and frequency boundaries are specified.  Test execution uses a random phase, frequency, and magnitude performed over a specified time interval.  I will pose this question in the LabVIEW Forum.

Thanks,
