Looks good. As for adding counters, I beleive the 6052e has only the two counters, but you can certainly add more from other cards. Unfortunately, I don't know about triggerring digital outputs with counters using the 6052e, but based on the lack of supported examples, I'm doubtful, though I would certainly be interested in hearing the answer.

I can happily report that the vi I attached does work. 

However, you are absolutely correct - the 6052E only has 2 CTR outs. Also, my investigations would suggest digital outputs cannot be triggered by counters at all on this card.

What I will do is use this setup for the current application, and when I require 4 bits for setting the switch state I will build a little 4-bit counter and just use CTR0 to clock it externally.

I would consider my original problem resolved - due entirely to your assistance.

Therefore, many many thanks for your help! I hope I will be able to help someone else in that fashion at some point.
