Trigger AO module using PFI on cDAQ-9188

Solved!
Go to solution

I am using a cDAQ-9188 chassis with an AO module (NI-9264).  Is it possible to configure a PFI (channel on the chassis) as a trigger input in order to sync an AO channel with the trigger?  Here is what I'm trying to do.  I need to have a channel on the AO module to switch voltages in sync with the trigger when the user "pushes a button".  So once the button is pushed, the AO channel won't change until the next trigger pulse.

Thanks for your help

Ben

Hello Ben

I hope you are well.  The consensus is that this is possible.  Have you attempted this yet?  If so, can you tell me what you have tried/how much progress you have made?  I recommend the following example VI:  Cont Gen Voltage Wfm-Ext Clk.vi.  Are you able to obtain any of the functionality you are looking for from this VI.  It was recommended that I show you this.  This VI can be found under Help --> Find Examples and then Hardware Input & Output --> DAQmx --> Analog Generation --> Voltage.

Please let me know how you are progressing and if you need any aspects of that example explained.  Thank you for choosing National Instruments!

Sincerely,

Thank you Greg,

That was a great help.  I didn't know how to configure the PFI port on the 9188 chassis.

Thanks Again

Ben
