I am trying to connect USB 6211 to my computer using USB 2.0 Extender Over Cat5 (From TRIPP-LITE). However, it is not recognising the device. Everytime I try to connect,it says, the 'USB frmware loader' failed to install properly. The hub by itself works when I connect usb memory stick to it. I have Daqmx 9.5.5 installed on the computer.
Has anyone faced any similar issue? I would really appreciate any help in this regard.
Thanks!

I just happened to try the Tripp Lite B203-101 USB 2.0 extender with a cDAQ-9178 and it did not recognize that either. I have had some success with more expensive extenders such as the Icron Ranger 2101 and the StarTech USB2004EXT2.

Does the 6211 work when connected directly to the computer? That is, it only runs into problems when you introduce the USB extender?
We don't typically do a lot of testing of USB products with extenders. As you might expect, USB extender vendors don't do a lot of testing with NI USB DAQ products either-- usually they test things like keyboards/mice, flash drives, and hard drives. NI USB DAQ products are a bit more atypical-- we use many more endpoints, we have tighter data throughput requirements, etc.
I did find the following note on Can I Use a Wireless USB Hub with My USB DAQ Device? (emphasis mine):
USB 2.0 cable extenders are available from a variety of vendors and can be used without much drop in performance. However, with certain USB chipsets we have noticed some issues with device recognition.
I did dig around and found a couple posts where people are (successfully) using USB extenders with NI USB DAQ products:

Windows does recognize the USB extender. It detects other USB devices such as pen drives when connected to the extender. when I connect my USB6211, in the device manager, under NI Devices, I see an 'USB firmware loader' with exclaimation mark on NI logo on it.

Hello,
So it looks like it should be possible to use the 6211 through a USB extender, but you may need to try some different extenders to find one that is compatible.
Can you confirm that your card is recognized correctly when connected directly to the computer?

Yes, When the USB device directly connected to the computer, it is recognized. I didn't try the different extenders though.

I have a hunch that the extender cannot provide enough current for the 6211. If available, try plugging the extender into a powered hub and then plug the 6211 into othe hub.

Extender has its own power supply. Its this model.

Yes, that's the same Tripp Lite model I tried last week. I sent it back and got a StarTech USB2004EXT2 (made by Icron) and it has been working well so far.

That model is good for 500mA per USB spec, that is enough current indeed.
Some I have used in the past were only ~200-250mA.
