USB-6008 error, analog channels not recognized on laptop.

Hi,

I am having an issue with a laptop computer not recognizing the analog channels on a USB-6008.  When I plug in the USB-6008 and try to run test panels using the Measurement and Automation Explorer, I get the following error:

"Error: This operation can only be performed on analog input physical channels.  As configured, this device does not have any analog input connections."

I have connected the exact same device on several other computers without any problems.  I am able to use the analog channels as intended.  I believe the analog channels are functioning correctly on the hardware itself, but I think there may be some settings or drivers not allowing the analog channels on this particular laptop.

The software I had written has been using LabView 7.0 runtime engine with NI-DAQ 8.0.1 drivers running on Windows XP on all these computers.  The laptop with the issue is configured the exact same way.  What settings do I need to change or configure for the USB-6008 to work correctly?  Thanks.

Andy,

On the computer that is experiencing the issue, please follow the steps outlined for MAX Database Connection Error's here.  If that doesn't work, I would suggest uninstalling and re-installing DAQmx.

I have gone through the steps from 42HG08DD with no success.  I continue to get the error, "This operation can only be performed on analog input physical channels.  As configured, this device does not have any analog input connections", when I try to use test panels on MAX.

I have also tried reinstalling MAX with version 8.0.1 NI-DAQmx.   I have also reinstalled run-time engine (LabVIEW 7.0) in case that might be an issue.  The firewall, to my knowledge, is not blocking any NI software.  I still feel that there is some sort of communication error, but it is not obvious to me.

I will be trying another version of NI-DAQmx, both 8.0 and 8.1, to see if that resolves the issue.  In the mean time, any other suggestions?  Thanks.

acanales,

You mentioned the firewall settings, but make certain that you perform steps 2 and 4 in the KnowledgeBase I linked in the previous post.  Those are most likely to resolve this issue.
