USB-6009 on a Mac

I am using a USB-6009 and the latest version of LabVIEW for the Mac. I am trying to write a VI so that I can monitor voltages with the analog inputs of the 6009.

I have access to the Windows version of LabVIEW, and with the DAQ Assistant, it is easy to write the VI. I have attached a VI that uses my 6009. The VI functions as it should.

Apparently, though, the DAQ Assistant is not available for the Mac.

So, I went through all of the examples that were supplied with the LabVIEW intallation disc, but had no luck.

How do I set up the 6009's analog input to provide an integer, or float?

Thanks.

Have you installed DAQmx Base 3.4? This is the driver for NI DAQ devices on OS X.

According to Where Can I Find NI-DAQmx Base Examples?, examples can be found at:

  • /Applications/National Instruments/<LabVIEW>/examples/daqmxbase
  • /Applications/National Instruments/NI-DAQmx Base/examples

Hello, I have the same issue, having been used USB 6009 on Windows XP, I have been using DAQ Assistant and many DAQ-mx functions (create virtual channel, read, timing, write, stop task....).

Please confirm that all this is missing on the Mac and these functions will not be implemented in future for Mac based systems?

I am using MacAir with Mac OS X version 10.6.8 , 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Thank you

Luke

As mentioned above, DAQmx is not available for the Mac.  You need to use DAQmx Base.  DAQmx Base is not a subset of DAQmx but a completely different program, written mostly in LV.

I, and nearly everyone else who uses LV on the Mac, keep hoping that NI will port DACmx to the Mac.  So far, there has been no sign that they are preparing to do so.

Keep asking.  If enough people ask, maybe they will.

Lynn
