USB-6281/6289 on Linux?

Has anyone tried to use USB-6281/6289 on Linux? I didn't find Linux in the "OS Support" list of these two cards. I guess their drivers are similar to other USB DAQ card. So, has anyone tried?

Hi Forrest Bao,

Thanks for your post and I hope your well today.

The reason for the USB 62xx Series devices not support Linux is because it requires the DAQmx Driver. This driver largely isn't supported under Linux.

If you look at the follow knowlegebase article,

What Linux Distributions Do National Instruments Drivers and Software Support?

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/35D2B5E483A001A18625716B005BE464?OpenDocument

You can see that NI-DAQmx 8.0 does appear to work under some distrubtions.

On the toss side, the driver that is generally support is DAQmx Base -but this driver doesn't include support for USB 62xx devices - I am afraid, however it does support other USB devices.. namely the 61xx I think. You can find more information in the DAQmx Base read-mes. The drivers maybe similar, but I am guess the chip set is completely different- and hence the newer 62xx aren't support.

However, if you look further down the link above it mentions,

"You should first install the version of NI-KAL that provides official support for your distribution, and then load the actual software package. This will give you the highest chance of succeeding with your particular combination".

Apart from that, I can only suggest seeing if anyone else can post here or maybe contact the few links at the end of the link above to discuss using Linux further.

For more general information on NI support for linux please see the following link,

National Instruments and Linux: Frequently Asked Questions

I hope this information at least gives you some more guidence on how you could attempt to get the unsupported USB 62xx series working on Linux.

Kind Regards

Is that still the case? I'm looking for Linux driver for NI USB-6289 and I can't find it. I also haven't found any clear info that this device is not supported on Linux.

I tried nidaqmxbase-3.4.0.iso but lsdaq doesn't find my device.
