USB-6341 interferes with the keyboard

When I connect my USB-6341 DAQ, it stops me from entering most text via the keyboard.  It appears as if there is a high cpu load (most key presses are ignored, with most others delayed and very few being entered as soon as I type them), but Windows Task Manager doesn't show any change in cpu or memory utilization when I insert or remove the USB plug.

The problem starts immediately with connection and goes away immediately when I remove the connector.

I have LabVIEW 2010 Professional (evaluation version) running on a Windows 7 machine (i5-2500K @ 3.3 GHz, 2 gigs memory).

What could be causing this and how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

You'll need to show the code but, this is tipical of events firing with a lock fpront panel type of thing.  Or it may be that you have "bogged down" just the UI thread.  Is there a action  configured to auto-launch each time the device is connected.  (look at the device associations in NI Dev mon) and,  Let see some code.

There is no "code".  This happens when the USB-6341 is connected to a USB port.  LabVIEW isn't running, or even open.  Neither is MAX.

As a follow-up, the interference starts as soon as the USB-6341 is connected, but doesn't go away completely when it is disconnected (say, 90-95% of the problem goes away) until I reboot.

And another follow-up... I was just about to post that the problem has gone away, but it resumed while I was typing this post.

Thinking this could be something similar to the hour+ installation of GPS software to my EVO 4G, I left my computer running with the USB DAQ connected while I went for lunch.  When I came back, I could type into Word with no problem, but when I started up Firefox to post here, the problem resumed in less than a sentence.

Yes, I should also check if the problem correlates to the combination of Firefox and the DAQ.  I'll let you know.

I'll ask again-- Is there a action configured to auto-launch each time the device is connected? check device moniter- clear all assosiations!

When I enter "Device Monitor" in Windows' Start Program box, I see "NI Device Monitor" as a possibility, but when I run it, I don't see a panel show up anywhere.  I also tried maneuvering through the program launch tree and that didn't work, either.  It does show in Windows Task Manager as a running app (3,328K memory), but that doesn't help me.

So... I am unable to monitor any auto-launch applications.  What do you suggest?

Unplug the device-

Plug it back in- did "NI Device Monitor" offer a pop-up?

unplug the device again

right-click the "NI Device Monitor" on the system tray (on th right side of the task bar) and chose "clear all device associations"

Plug it back in- did NI Device Monitor pop-up this time?  Choose "do nothing" check "every time I..."

That almost did it.  I had no problem for a couple minutes, then opened up Firefox to reply to this thread and the dropped character problem re-appeared halfway through the first sentence.

I am going to plug the unit back in, wait for the problem to re-occur, then stop Firefox and see if that fixes it.

Nope... Firefox doesn't affect operation and the dropped key problem starts immediately after connecting the device, even after I click on "Remove all associations".
