Hi,
I have a USB DAQ unit (6008) and I have installed DAQmx 9.8 as well as all updates on a fresh install of Windows 8.1 in a VMware virtual machine.
The unit passes the self test in Measurement explorer multiple times, but if I perform a continuous acquisition in the test panel, the program hangs upon pressing stop (it shows the graph perfectly during the acquisition). After this, anything I try to do with the unit just results in hanging even if I restart the program. I can't even shut down the operating system!
I need to unplug the unit and plug it back in, and then I can shut down or perform another acquisition after which it hangs again when I press stop (over and over). I'm trying to use this in DAQmx for C but I can't even get it working properly in measurement explorer!
What on earth is happening? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy,
I'm assuming that it has something to do with the Virtual Machine. There are sometimes issues with running hardware on Virtual Machines just due to the interaction between the virtual OS and the hardware. NI has a knowledgebase document describing this.
I don't have a Windows 8 machine to try this on so I can't validate that it's not an issue with DAQmx 9.8 and Windows 8. Have you tried running the USB-6008 in a non-VM to see if you see the same behavior?
