Hello Mey,

NI has two different Versions of the USB 9211.  They are the USB 9211A and USB 9211.  The USB 9211 has a USB 9161 connector to the USB Port and uses DAQmx Base 1.4.  The USB 9211A has a USB 9162 connector to the USB Port and uses DAQmx.  Make sure you have the correct version of the driver installed on your computer and that the USB 9211 is installed properly by the operating system when it is plugged in.

I have the 9211 without the A.  I uninstalled then reinstalled and got the same problem.  Windows reconizes the device and installs what it says is the most recent driver.  Then M&A explorer pops up automatically but the 9211 is still not in the list.  If I unplug the device and then plug it back in M&A explorer pops up again.  I used USB autolauncher and assigned the 9211 to NIMAX.exe.  Is this correct? How do I know if I have the latest driver?  NI web page says it is in NI-DAQmx Base 1.4 which I have installed. I really appreciate your help with this.

Hello Mey,

You may want to use the DAQmx Base Configuration Utility as well to make sure that you device shows up.  If it shows up there, then you are ready to try an example program.  Just be sure to use the number assigned to it by the utility.  You can tell the version of the driver by expanding the Software tree in M&A Explorer.  Look for NI DAQmx Base and find the version number.  Have you tried a refresh in MAX or in the configuration utility?

Ok thanks, I finally got MAX to reconize the 9211, but I'm not sure how.  Now though when I pull it up in the NI-Daqmx base configuration utility it only shows 1 channel, when I expected 4.  I tried opening DAQ assistant but the 9211 does not show up at all there. any more ideas?

Hello Mey,

The DAQmx Base drivers are a subset of the DAQmx drivers.  One of the functions that are not included is the DAQ Assistant.  You will also not be able to use tasks that were configured in Measurement and Automation Explorer.  You can still use the examples that come with the drivers to start your programs.
