Virtual channels in MAX not showing up under Data Neighborhood when created

When I create a virtual channel using Measurement & Automation Explorer the channel is not showing up on the list on the left of the screen, nor do they show up when clicking on the folder for "NI-DAQmx Global Virtual Channels".  The name used is taken if I try to reuse it, but the channel I specified can be used again, thus it does not seem the channels are actually being created.  I've restarted MAX and my computer, without those things fixing the problem.  Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?  I've successfully created channels for different devices of the same type previously.

CK24,

Thank you for posting on the NI Forums. If you could tell me what version of DAQmx you are using as well as what version of MAX you currently have. If you do not have the latest version of DAQmx, currently 8.9, you could download the new DAQmx driver which will also update your Measurement and Automation Explorer which could resolve the problem. Also are you able to see any Global Virtual Channels? Are you able to see any DAQmx Tasks?

I am using DAQmx 8.3 with MAX 4.1.  I reinstalled the DAQmx and then could create channels that were seen as Virtual Global channels on the left hand menu in MAX.  The previously created channels still didn't show up, however, I discovered I could access and edit them in Labview.  When exporting the info in MAX to a .nce all channels were there, but only the ones created after the reinstallation were under Virtual Global.  The earlier channels were under DAQmx Data.  I cannot figure out how to either move or delete and recreate these DAQmx Data channels so they become Virtual Global channels.

CK24,

It sounds like the reinstall of DAQmx seemed to fix the previous problem that you were experiencing with your created Virtual Global Channels not showing up. As far as I know there is no way to change a Virtual Global Channel to a DAQmx Task or Data Channels, just because they are different types of channels. I would try deleting the DAQmx Data channels by right-clicking on them and selecting delete. If you are unable to delete this Data Channels please attach a screen shot of your MAX Channels so I can take a look at what you are seeing.
