Hello Reggiest,

We have both a NI-DAQcard 1200 and a NI PCI-1200 so I'm not exactly sure which card you have, but if it is one of these two then the answer is similar.

If you have the NI PCI-1200, then, as you have said, you need to use the NI-DAQ 6.9.3 driver, and if you have the NI-DAQcard 1200 you need NI-DAQ version 6.9.1 or earlier—both of which are not supported in Windows Vista.  Basically you will either need to upgrade your hardware or downgrade your operating system to have a compatible system.

As you can see at the NI-DAQ Driver Support: PCI/PXI Devices website the NI PCI-1200 can be used with NI-DAQ 6.9.3 in Windows XP/NT/2000/98/ME/95 so if you have one of those operating systems that would be one option.  Note:  NI-DAQ is not currently supported in Windows Vista, so if you want to stay with Vista you will need to upgrade to DAQmx.

In general when considering an upgrade using Tradition NI-DAQ as opposed to NI-DAQmx is discouraged unless you have a particular reason you need to continue to use NI-DAQ.  The new NI-DAQmx driver in combination with a DAQmx device such as the M Series PCI-6251 (the recommended upgrade from the NI PCI-1200) performs better and costs less than the card you currently have and would be an excellent upgrade that is fully supported in Windows Vista.

If you have any specific questions about the specs of this card you can go to www.NI.com/contact and speak to a technical representative directly.  Let me know if this helps, and if I’ve misinterpreted your question please feel free to reply back with clarification.

Have a good night!

Brooks
