cannot reset the IP address for cRio 9074

hi, all, we lost connection with cRio 9074 when the experiments under running. Then, it cannot get connected again. We tried to reboot, and reset IP address. however, the ip address keeps to be 169.254.62.215 and unchanged. It looks like the reset button is disfounctional. But how it happens or is there any reason or solution for this problem??

First of all, please be sure you do post to rigt discussion forum - your question doesn't have anything to do with multifunction DAQ, but it is rather CompactRIO related. Therefore you should post your question to "Real-Time Measurement and Control", where you can expect much better answer.

To your question. The address range 169.254.0.0-169.254.255.255 is reserved by Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) for Automatic Private IP Addressing. This happens when your controller tries to connect to DHCP server (tries to get automatically assigned IP address), but DHCP is not available.

After the network adapter has been assigned an IP address, the computer can use TCP/IP to communicate with any other computer that is connected to the same LAN and that is also configured for APIPA or has the IP address manually set to the 169.254.x.y (where x.y is the client’s unique identifier) address range with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. Note that the computer cannot communicate with computers on other subnets, or with computers that do not use automatic private IP addressing. Automatic private IP addressing is enabled by default.
