Hi,
I have purchased a cdaq-9171 for use with labview 8.5 since the manual says min 8.5 and daqmx 9.4 however it appears that daqmx 9.4 is not compatible with 8.5 and daq mx 9.3 does not support the 9171
is this right, have I been sold a crock ?
Thanks
Nick

There's a typo somewhere...according to the 9.3 readme file
http://download.ni.com/support/softlib//multifunction_daq/nidaqmx/9.3.0/readme.html
both LabVIEW 8.5 and the 9171 are supported...
but there's a KB that says these are wrong http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/82755E53460CACC4862579F9004E0519
So I guess it is only supported in 9.4 which means you need to upgrade LabVIEW...any other solutions (using old VIs, etc) would probably not be supported by NI.

Actually, after thinking about this...DAQmx has different subsets...LabVIEW support is installed with the full version, and then you can install a "runtime" or subset of DAQmx 9.4 to add support for the 9171 but not add new LabVIEW API support (and most importantly, not uninstall any previous version of LabVIEW support).
In summary, install 9.3 then install 9.4 "NI-DAQmx Run-Time Engine 9.4 - (Configuration with MAX)"
This should allow you to use LabVIEW 8.5 with DAQmx 9.4.
Let us know what happens with your testing 🙂

Thanks,
I'll give it a try over the weekend
