daq 6009 not responding

Hi,

I have a problem with a DAQ-6009. THe problem is that it is not responding. When I plug the USB cable in, the LED of the DAQ is not flashing, however, the device shows up in windows device manager. It doesnt show up in the Automation and Measurement window. Could this mean that the device is broken? Its from my university, people have used it before ( I have not). Or could it be a problem that I dont have admin rights on my PC? The DAQ is plugged in to a pretty new laptop with Win7 running on it.

What version of DAQmx do you have installed?

It's listed under "Software" in MAX.

I just did an upadte to the newest DAQmx Version and it seems to work fine now! Thanks a lot, appreciate your help!

I'm having problems connecting to my NI-USB 6009

I have installed/reinstalled/restarted/repaired/etc NI-DAQ9.5 and NI-DAQ9.6 countless times to get the USB driver correct but it won't work. Sometimes the installation of 9.5 or 9.6 has failed ("The NI-DACmx MIO Device Drivers for the 64 Bit Windows 2.9.0 installation has failed"), sometimes it has gone trough. (Have to love the error message: "The installation has failed. Please correct the problem and try again". Very informative.)

 

- Win 7

- The 6009 HW is ok (works on another PC)

- It shows up in the device manager under "Other Devices" as "NI USB-6009" but with the yellow "!" icon.

- Properties in the Device Manager says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)"

- I am unable to find a driver for 6009 when browsing or searching

- It does not show up in MAX "Devices and Interfaces"

- LED on 6009 is not flashing

 

- If I select the NI-845x driver in the device manager the 6009 LED will flash and the device show up in MAX

 

 

Any ideas?

I'd recommend giving Device Remover a shot.... http://www.pro-it-education.de/software/deviceremover/

Unplug the DAQ,  then under "Display Mode" in the toolbar, choose "Show only hidden/detached devices".

Check all the "Data Acquisition Devices", and check anything like "unknown devices".  I also like to clean up Ports, USB Hubs, and HID devices while i'm in here.  Careful not to zap anything the system needs; this tool can screw up your machine if you're careless.  Click "Remove All Checked" and let it do its thing.  A restart afterwards never hurts, and then try plugging the DAQ in again.

 

To me it sounds like you've got some driver install hung up.

Hello again

Thanks for the input! I tried it but it didn't help

It proved to be the virus protection Software that stopped the installation because it falsely trigged on the driver install. The false detect was caused by a bad update patch. I didnt get any alert or indication. Found it when I checked the Windows event log files

Now it works!
