Hi,
Recently, I bought a PCI-MIO-16E-4 DAQ card to fit our labview7.0.
After installed the driver (from the CDs), the card works properly with
MAX and the labview signalexpress. However, the default program is not
suitable to our application.
So, I tried to program it with labview7.0. I found that one critical module, DAQ assistant, is missing. Therefore, I cannot write the program. A wierd thing is, the DAQ assistant once existed before using the installation CD. But after, it disappeared. I don't know how to find the DAQ assistant back.
Before we bought the card, we particularly asked in advance whether it is programmable with labveiw 7.0 or not. The answer was positive. Would you provide me any suggestion or solution?

You just need to be sure that you installed a version of DAQmx that's compatible with the LabVIEW software:
NI-DAQ & LabVIEW Version Compatibility (for Windows)
If yours is compatible, then try reinstalling the driver. I am sure this will be the case since MAX and LabVIEW SignalExpress do work.

Thank you very much for your help.
It turns out that they are not compatable. I have to contact the supplyer ASAP.

MAX is a separate program from LabVIEW. When you install a DAQmx driver (or any driver, for that matter), you also install a version of MAX that it compatible with the driver. Signal Express is a program created with a much, much newer version of LabVIEW.
If you stick with 7.0, just download the latest compatible version (8.1).

hi, I downloaded the NI-DAQmx 8.1 - Windows 2000/XP and installed it according to the installation instructions.
However, it cannot overwrite the previous NI-DAQmx (version 8.7.1).I still cannot find DAQ assistant.
Do I need to uninstall the NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 before installing the lower version? If so, how to do that?

Yes, you need to uninstall the later version. The installer for 8.1 is probably set to not do an install if a later version is detected.
To uninstall, go to Start>Settings>control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. All of the NI software is listed in National Instruments software.
