disconnect terminals

Right now I 'm planning to creat a VI to do the DI Or DO work for my own DAQ(non-NI).So the first thing I need to do is querying the DIO direction(In/Out) and displaying the valid In(or Out) ports which are the terminals of the DI(or DO) VI.The problem is:How can I choice the terminals I needed  after(or any other  time) the VI loaded.Is there VI can do "disconnect terminals "?In the LV help files I can't get any futher informations but only the text "disconnect terminals VIs/functions".

I guess I don't understand why you would think there would be a built-in function for a board of your own design. If you are looking for style pointers, look at how NI has done the DAQmx functions.
