max 4.0.3.3003 shows no devices

Greetings,
I can usually find the answers I need by using the search, but this time, no luck...

I have Win XP on a Dell laptop with LabWindows 8.0.1 (356) and MAX 4.0.3.3003.  I cannot get anything to populate inside MAX.  I have a DAQCARD 6036e installed & it shows in Device Manager, but not MAX.  Also, the serial ports, or LabWindows, will not show up in MAX, it's completely empty.  I work where users cannot have admin rights to our machines and first thought maybe it was a user account issue, so I logged off & had my admin to a remote loggin and run MAX under their account, still nothing listed...  Is there anyone else that has had this problem, or has some advice on what to do here.  I need to run MAX to set up virtual channels & run the test pannels...

Many thanks in advance,
Rob

Hi nsroc,

The problem may have been that the NI Device Loader service was not running, which would be fixed by reinstalling the driver, but can also be fixed more easily with the instructions in this KnowledgeBase article:

NI Device Loader (nidevldu) and NI Configuration Manager Services Not Starting

Also, if you want to get the newest version of DAQmx at the time of this post, it can be found here for free:

NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 - Windows 2000/Vista x64/Vista x86/XP

Glad to hear things are working again!
Regards,
