new USB-6008 not functional in Windows XP Mode window under Windows 7 x64

I just purchased a USB-6008.  It works ok under Windows 7 x64.  However, in a 32 bit XP Mode compatibility window, the device is detected and Device Manager reports "This device cannot start.  (Code 10)".  This is the first time I've had trouble with NI USB drivers in XP Mode.  I've installed both NI-DAQmx 9.2 and NI-DAC Base 3.40 with the same failed results.

The Windows XP Mode option is a Virtualized operating system.  NI-DAQmx may or may not function correctly in virtualized environments and their use in these environments is not officially supported.  Is there a reason that you need to you the device in XP Mode?

Thanks for the info!  I'm using the official Microsoft XP Mode included with Windows 7 Pro.  It seems to be a version of the Microsoft product "Virtual PC".

I'm using it because of a number of sad legacy issues for software that is incompatible with Windows 7 x64.

Is there a list of any virtualized operating systems that NI-DAQmx is compatible with?  Or any workarounds using the virtualized USB drivers?  I've actually been pleasantly surprised that most USB hardware works seamlessly with XP Mode.

Thanks,

Mike

There is no official list, as success is pretty dependent on the hardware that you are using (specifically the USB host controller).  I know of a number of people at NI who have had success with VMware.
