one of three PCI-6703 cards no longer recognized as PCI device

I've been running an older Win2K 15-slot PCI chassis for about 10yrs and it has many different cards for generating Avionics Test signals.  I was trouble shooting an issue with 2 Condor ARINC-429 cards that is now resolved, but upon the last series of boots, 1 of my 3 PCI-6703 cards is no longer recognized and shows up as an unknown device in DevMgr.  I can't seem to be able to remove/install the driver that came with this system.  (NIDAQ2 ver 6.8.1)  Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this new problem?

Hi,

Have you tried moving the cards to different slots in the chassis?  If you go into uninstall programs in the control panel and look under National Instruments do you see the drivers in question listed?  As far as the drivers, upgrading to a newer version is definitely a good idea.  You can download the newer drivers at www.ni.com/drivers.  Installing the new drivers will replace the old drivers on your computer.

Greg-H,

I talked with Ben over in NI Tech-Support group and he suggested a similar approach to see which one of the set of three cards was failing to be seen as known PCI device.  I also luckily had a spare 6703 and in the process of moving cards and swapping I got all four cards to be seen as 6073 devices so I was able to put it all back the way it was prior to failure and all is good.  I guess it was related to a poor pin connection on the PCI Bus, but for now all is OK.  I'm now going to button up the 15-slot chassis and put back into the 19" rack and cable it all up and see if all the I/O works as desired.  X-fingers....

Well no such luck...  After getting the entire test stand all back together and cabled up the #3 6703 card is once again 'Unknown PCI Device".  I'll take it all apart again on Monday and clean the PCI contacts and try again...
