pci 6225 and scb 68 connector block

As a part of my project , i need to connect 48 analog inputs to the labview program which collects information from sensors. I have a pci 6225 card and two SCB-68 connector blocks with SHC-68 EPM connecting cables. I used to do 32 channel inputs using these devices. Now i wanted to extend it to 48 inputs and use the same devices. Is there a posiibility that i could do it?  Can i connect more than 16 analog inputs in a single SCB-68 block.  Do i have to do it single ended or differential? If not, wht connector box should i get to make 48 iinputs to the PCI 6225?

Hi,

Thank you for your question.  Absolutely, you can do what you want to do with the hardware you have.  The PCI-6225 has 80 analog inputs.  Using two SHC-68 EPM cables and two SCB-68 you can acquire data for all 80 analog input channels.  You don't necessarily use differential or single-ended, although differential is almost always preferred.  For more information on this consult the Developer Zone article here.  Whichever one you choose, you can use the connection diagram in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) to see exactly how you need to connect your device.  I hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great day!

Thank you very much. I just have one more question. The PCI 6225 specifications says i need to use two different cables (SHC 68-68 EPM for connector 0 and SHC 68-68 for connector 1)  to the SCB 68 connector blocks. As i have two SHC 68-68 EPM already, can i use it instead of SHC 68-68 for connector 1 or do i have to order a new cable for it?

Also this link was helpful to find the refernce lables for  SCB 68(with PCI 6225).

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply.  The SHC68-68-EPM cable is specifically designed to work on connector 0.  I do not know that this cable won't work on connector 1 as well.  However, it is not designed for this.  According to page A-35 of the M-Series User Manual, different cables are required for both connectors.  This is what I would recommend in order for your device to work as it is designed to.  Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Have a great day!
