problems with daqpad 6016

Using Labview 7.1.1 and NI-DAQmx 8.0.1 with a NI DAQPad-6016.

I'm having some problems.  I'm using the DAQPad for simple analog input measurements.  Well, at least I was, until LabVIEW began to lock up when trying to load VIs using DAQmx.  I dont believe that my code was a problem, because I was using an example VI.  It seemed to work for a while, but had a habit of crashing.  Then it just stopped working altogether.  The ready light will stay on, and the active light will blink every now and then, but I cant tell it to do anything, or even open measurement and automation explorer.  While it was working, I also noticed that it did something odd.  When I read from either of two channels, the measurements were around 3.5V.  When I read from both of them at the same time, both signals read 6.5-7.  Provided I can get DAQmx working again, with the DAQPad running stable, this will probably be a problem.

Let me know if I should provide anymore information, and thank you for any help you can offer.

Well, I managed to get MAX and NI-DAQ working again by repairing their installation.  However, I am noticing a drift in my analog measurements.  I thought it may have been something off about one of the components I am using, but then I tried connecting the AI channel to ground, and the drift is still there.  Any tips?

I managed to find a page that told me to short AI Sense to AI GND and use that with NRSE measurements, and the test panels look good, so time to start on my VI.
