What ni module(s) would I need to acquire signals from an LVDT? I have an analog out, but is there another module required?

Thanks for using NI support.  There is a great Dev Zone article here which explains how to take measurements of an LVDT using NI products, and also which NI products are best for taking these measurements.  The SCXI-1540 is a great module to use because it already has the signal conditioning built into it for reading data from an LVDT.  Also, programming wouldn't be so hard because you could simply use a shipping example or the DAQ assistant.  Take a look at the article and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks for the link to the article. It really clears some things up.  I forgot about the signal conditioning box that came with my LVDT. Another related question I have though, is how I should supply the +/- 15V that the wiring guide for the LVDT says should be connected to pins A and B. The only NI modules that we have go to +/- 10V. Should I hook the LVDT into an external power supply? Or is there a module that is able to provide the required range of +/- 15 V. I've attached a copy of the wiring instrunctions for my five pin connecter that will connect the signal conditioning box to the cRIO. Thanks again.

ABC for an external powersupply. Depending on the specs of the signal conditioner box  you might need a very stable and clean powersupply.

CD to your (+-10V?) analog input of the cRIO.

If possible use seperated cables for power supply and sensor output (try to avoid to share the GND (C) ) and use differential input if possible at the cRIO.
