speed sensor connection in NI9401

hi everyone,
I am using proximity sensor for speed measurement of dc motor with help of NI 9401.How can i make connection for it.Sensor has three terminals.Is there any need for external supply of 5V to sensor?also is there requirement of configuration of NI 9401?

hello all,
I also want to know wheather the connection remains same for other sensors viz.optical and hall effect sensor.I am working with NI 9401 and giving external supply to sensors and using 16th pin of NI 9401 to feed data from sensors to DAQ.
Am i doing correct?

and one more question can i delete my posts from other forums.
