Good morning to everyone. I'm a university student (currently in thesis) that needs the NI instrumentations for its purpose. The university has made avaiable to me a DAQ NI USB-6289 and the LabView software for the data manipulation. For the first part of the experiment, was quite simple to implement software and hardware (even if I'm not so expert), and I have no problems. Now, for the second part, I need to know if it's possible with the DAQ 6289 to simulate a sort of switch mode between 2 input power supplies (that will describe a current square wave) automatically. In the first part, in fact, I manually generate the 2 inputs (0.5 A current, ON1 for 30 sec, OFF1 for 20 sec, ON2 for 30 sec, OFF2 for 20 sec and cycled) because of the few cycles that I had to do. Now I want simulate a fatigue test so I want to cycle at least 500 times. I hope I explained my problem. Sorry for my poor English, I know I have to improve it.

PS: now the power supplies are not directly connected to the DAQ, because the input power that I generate moves a target for a laser. So I measure the displacement of that target (the laser is a channel of the DAQ) that is the variable that I'm interessed in. For my new purpose I'd connect the power supplies too, but I don't know if this is possible to simulate what I want.

I would recommend finding some solid-state relays to control your power supplies. You can then control the relays with the DIO on the DAQ.

Thank you very much. It works! I've made a little electrical circuit with 2 relays and connected it to the DAQ and to the power supplies. Now I can do what I want.
