synchronize daq cards on different PCs

Dear all:

We are using 4 PCI-6071E series DAQ cards in our lab. The 4 DAQ are installed on 4 PCs with Visual Basic and ComponentWorks. We want to synchonize these DAQs so they can sample signals at the same time. How to realize it in the hardware? Which pin on DAQ shall we use to send clocks?

Hi Joe,

The only thing you can do would be to route an ai/SampleClock from the Master Device to a PFI line. Then externally connect that PFI line to a PFI line on the 3 slave devices and have them use those lines as Sample Clock Sources. Be aware, that because of the cable length between these devices, there will probably be some latency between the Master and Slave Sample Clocks.

Alternatively, if you built a custom RTSI Cable long enough, you could route the ai/SampleClock to a RTSI line rather than a PFI line.
