usb-6008 labview 6.1

Hi,

In the near future, I'll try to get some data from a USB-6008 device under LabVIEW 6.1 on Windows XP.  Is it possible to do it by upgrading my NI-VISA installation (currently at 2.6.1f2) to NI-VISA 4.2 and using the USB VISA communication channel to do that?  By upgrading my "old" NI_VISA version, will that cause some problems with my other projects?

TIA,

Michel

NI-VISA has nothing to do with the USB-6008. The driver for the DAQ device is DAQmx and DAQmx is only supported on LabVIEW 7.0 and above.

Hi Michel,

The USB-6008 gained support with the DAQmx 7.5 driver (besides DAQmx Base), which only works with LabVIEW 7.0 and above, as Dennis mentioned.

If you’re interested, this KnowledgeBase outlines which drivers are supported by which version of LabVIEW: NI-DAQ for Windows Support for Different LabVIEW Versions

You can use NI-VISA for USB Instrument Control. However, the DAQmx driver is provided with all the functionality we intend the USB-6008 to have. We wouldn’t directly support this, but I’ve provided some links to give you information to get you started if that’s what you want to try.
