usb-6251 installation problem

Hmm... The device is seen by Windows device manager.  And the device works fine on another computer.

In Windows device manager, can you right click on it and choose "properties."  What is the device status?

I now suspect that you may have some sort of installation issue.  I would suggest that you "uninstall" the device from Windows device manager.  I know this may be harsh, but I would suggest that you uninstall all NI Software from the computer.  Once it is uninstalled, reboot the computer and then delete the C:\Program Files\National Instruments folder.

This is the best way to clean your system before re-installing.  After your machine is clean, install NI-DAQmx 8.3, reboot and then plug in your device.

Windows device manager says: " This device is working properly.  If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter."

I will let you know what happens with the system wipe asap.

Thanks for all your help.

Same result. I uninstalled the device, uninstalled all Ni software, rebooted, installed 8.3, rebooted, plugged in the device, and it is not seen by MAX.

Did you try to press "F5" on the keyboard to refresh device list in Max?

Hello,

I had some similar problems. I just upgraded my NI DAQ-6062E (PCMCIA) data acquisition board to a NI USB-6251 to be used on my laptop. My issue dealt with transiting from an E-series device to an M-series device. I installed the new USB-6251 with the DAQ-6062E still in the laptop. Measurement and Automation Explorer was not recognising the USB-6251 but recognised only the DAQ-6062E. I removed/uninstalled any previous LabView material from the laptop and installed the USB-6251. After rebooting, it eventually did ‘see’ the device but however this time it was greyed out with a red cross on it. So I safely removed the USB cable connected it back again and switched on the device. This time round the USB-6251 was seen as active (green icon) and from there I proceeded to perform Self Test and run Test Panels. The lengthy process consisted of lots of rebooting, I suppose for each device (the USB-6251 on one hand and Windows/the laptop on the other) to recognise each other.

I hope you manage to sort it out.

Vipin.

Hi,

What is the model of the HP laptop that you are trying to install this USB-6251 on?

Hi, I'm experiencing the same problems as you with a NI 5102 device, have you figured out finally what to do?
Thank you for your help!

Hi SPAD,

Are you using the PXI or PCI interface version of the 5102?  What version of the NI-SCOPE drivers do you have installed on the system?  Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the NI-SCOPE drivers?
