window 2000 could not detect the PC-LPM-16 Card

Hello all,

I had tried to install the PC-LPM-16 and PC-516 Cards; they passed the Resource Test and had no error with the Run Panel Test. However, I installed LabVIEW 5.1 after I had done these steps and the LabVIEW's Data Acquisition subpalette displayed only the ? icons. After unsuccessfully trying to have the DAQ subpalette display properly, I uninstalled everything then reinstalled them. This time the cards are not detected under Win2000; they are not listed in the Device Manager. I had tried follow direction to deleted registry keys from Win2000 but they are still not working.

Now every time reboot the computer, there is the New Hardware Found Wizard trying to install the Video Controller and Other Memory. I
could not uninstall them. For the Video Controller, it sometime said that cannot delete because maybe this is needed to reboot the computer and other time said that window cannot load the installer for DAQDevice.

Please help, I am frustrated.

It sounds like you are experiencing multiple issues. First, LabVIEW 5.1.1 itself will run under Windows 2000, except for the installer which displays a message in a dialog box which reads "wrong OS." All the user has to do is hit OK and everything will proceed as usual under other Win32 platforms. The drivers, however, are not compatible so that is why NI released LabVIEW 5.1.1 (a free update to 5.1). Go here to get this update: ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/labview/updates/windows/5.1.1/. Secondly, your version of NI-DAQ may not be compatible with either LabVIEW 5.1 or the OS or both. Check your NI-DAQ version ensure that it supports the hardware, the OS, and LabVIEW 5.1.

Hello Scorpion,

Thank you for the reply. For the driver, I installed the NI-DAQ6.9.3 but they did not work; now it always says that "Windows could not load the installer for DAQDevice. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance". Could you please explain further about the compatibility? LabVIEW 5.1 is not compatible with NI-DAQ6.9.3 and I need to update to LabVIEW 5.1.1 or NI-DAQ6.9.3 is not compatible with the cards I am using now?

Thank you in advance

Probably one of the necessary driver files has been deleted or corrupted, and a re-installation should solve your problem. Give this a try.

I agree with Scorpion's post that you should get the free update to LabVIEW 5.1.1. This isn't necessary to run on Windows 2000, but a good idea to patch anyway. Furthermore, I would recommend installing the NI-DAQ driver that shipped with your version of LabVIEW, which was version 6.6.

What I would do is install LabVIEW 5.1 with DAQ support from your original CDs. There is no reason to use a newer driver (e.g. 6.9.3) as no changes were made in the driver for support of your hardware. However, NI-DAQ 6.9.3 is compatible with LabVIEW 5.1 and both are compatible with Windows 2000. If you absolutely have to get NI-DAQ 6.9.3 then be sure to download the LabVIEW 5.1 Installation Component with the driver. From the 6.9.3 download page be
sure to read the installation instructions and download both the NIdaq693.exe and the LV51Eng.exe files. Without the LabVIEW 5.1 installation component you will not see the DAQ palette in LabVIEW.

At this point, I would remove all of your NI software and reinstall LabVIEW 5.1 with DAQ support and then apply the free 5.1.1 update. Ensure that your DAQ boards are OUT of the computer when you perform your reinstall of software and drivers.

Thank you both very much for replied my question. I got them up and running now. I got the utility from NI-Tech Support to clean up all the registry keys and they are working fine now.
Thank you again
