555 monostable timer

Hello Guys,
I built this 555 timer in monostable state and it is not working. I built one with the 555 wizard timer and one from scratch.  They are set with different pulse width.  Does anyone have any insight on that?  Any thing that I am missing?  Any limit exceeded?  If anyone had any suggestions, it will greatly appreciated.
It is very basic but for some reason it is not working, I am expecting it to send a pulse every time it is triggered.
I tried to attached the circuit to my post but it will accept the extension.  Please help.
Thanks for the help.

Without seeing your circuit most of what I am telling you will be conjecture on my part.

1. Check to make sure all power connections are attached (obvious of course, but I have been known to forget to do this)

2. Under Simulation settings make sure that set to zero is activated.

3. You never said how you were triggering your timer, but it requires a negative going signal on pin 2. I usually tie a 1K ohm resistor to positive and trigger with a switch to ground. This negative signal cannot stay negative longer than the time-out period of the timer otherwise it will just keep re-triggering and in a way oscillate in an undesirable way. You can trigger positive to, but I haven't had much success doing this in Multisim unless I invert and integrate the positive trigger pulse.

Anyway, that is all I can think of barring a messed up timer in your version. If you could somehow post a picture of your circuit I may be able to get a better picture of what is happenning and may come up with a better solution for you.

Thanks for the tip.  I actually cannot load it on the website because it does not accept the format and extension of the file from Multisim.
I will try what you said and see if it works.
Thanks alot. I will keep u posted
If you know a way to load these files to the discussion board.  Let me know.

"I tried to attached the circuit to my post but it will accept the extension."

[Chuckle]  I'd forgotten that small detail.  They still haven't fixed that?? [sigh]

You can put your file(s) into a ZIP file, extension .zip, in that way we will all be able to see it. The Forums owner has been notified about accepting Multisim and Ultiboard file extensions, but in the meantime you can use ZIP files.
