74HC04 pin mapping incorrect

The pin mapping for the 74HC04 parts is not correct in either Multisim 10.0.1 or in 10.1,   the pin usage for the 4th and 6th gates should be swapped so that gate 4 uses pins 12 and 13, and gate 6 uses pins 8 and 9.   This true for the 6V parts (74hc04d_6v, 74hc04n_6v) and almost certainly for all the other versions in the master DB.

Hmmmm...   There seems to be a difference that I didn't expect between the 74HC04 and 74AC04 datasheet (at least for some vendors).

Look at the Fairchild datasheet for the 74AC04 [http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/74/74ACT04.pdf] .   As far as this datasheet is concerned, the gates are numbered 0 to 5 (rather than 1 to 6), but the last gate uses pin  9 as input and 8 as output.   However, as you correctly point out the 74HC04 datasheet you showed assigns the last gate to pins 13 and 12, as does the Fairchild datsheet for the 74HC04!!!

On the other hand the SGS Thomson datasheet for the 74AC04 matches the 74HC04 datasheet you showed.

ah, I see what you mean, for the mass public though, PHYSICALLY, it won't make a piss hole in the snow's difference since they are physically mapped correctly, but they did mess up in the logical "U" arrangement naming convention of each individual gate.

Nothing earth shattering, I'm betting it was a noob tech writer that made the mistake. Not uncommon to see "minor" errors in in the datasheets.....but fairchild.....damn, that's a big miss.
